Yesterday Veritasium uploaded a video titled, The Man Who Killed Millions & Saved Billions. That video left people wondering about the man, Fritz Haber.

Who Was Fritz Haber?

Fritz Haber was a German chemist, who invented the process to produce ammonia from hydrogen & nitrogen gas. This process is called Haber-Bosch Process.

This process is both good and bad, good because this process is used in two-thirds of global food production and bad because the same process is used in making explosives.

Haber is also famous for his work on poisonous gases & their use in World War 1. He is famously called, ‘Father of Chemical Warfare’, for his contribution to developing & weaponizing Chlorine.

He received Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1918 for his work on Haber-Bosch Process.
