So, the first question is what to expect from the new Celerio CNG. The new Celerio is powered by 1.0-Litre petrol engine. This same engine will power its CNG variant as well. In CNG model, the power and torque figures may change as compared to the petrol model. Meanwhile, in petrol model this 1.0-litre packs 67 BHP and 89 Nm. Maruti Suzuki already offers best fuel efficiency in the Celerio. With the CNG model, it will get even better. The Celerio offers maximum 26.68 kmpl which is best in its class. From the Celerio CNG 30 km/kg of fuel efficiency can be expected. First-Gen Celerio used to deliver 30.47 km/kg as per ARAI certification.
As a CNG car, in the new Celerio the boot space needs to be far less to accommodate the cylinder. In petrol model, the Celerio offers good 313 litres of boot space. The CNG will be the only major change in the car. Interior and exterior will be exactly same as of the petrol model. Due to CNG, the drive and dynamics of the car will see a drastic change.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG Rival
The biggest rival of the Celerio CNG will be the Tiago CNG from Tata Motors. Both cars are new and in the same segment. The Tiago will be the first CNG car from Tata Motors. After this, the company has planned CNG versions of Tigor and Punch as well. Hyundai also offers the Santro in CNG version, so the Santro is also a potential rival for the Celerio CNG.
