JFK to Phoenix American Airlines flight aborted after plane blows tires

After the jet burst two tyres during takeoff, a trip from John F. Kennedy International Airport had to be cancelled on Tuesday.

Flight 2829 to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport was halted shortly after 1 p.m. due to a mechanical issue, according to American Airlines.

Customers were deplaned and transported to the terminal by bus after the Boeing 737-800 came to a safe stop on the runway.

They are anticipated to board a different plane that will continue their journey to Phoenix.

The six staff members and 142 passengers on board were not injured, according to reports. The plane has been taken out of service for inspection and repairs.
