In 2020, Ford Motor Company was all set to reveal the 2021 Ford Bronco on 9 June, but they quickly realized that the reveal date coincided with the birthday of Bronco’s most famous passenger O.J. Simpson.
“The reveal of the all-new Ford Bronco lineup will now happen on Monday, July 13,” Ford spokesman Mark Truby said on Twitter. “The previous targeted date of July 9 unintentionally coincided with O.J. Simpson’s birthday. We wanted to be sensitive and respectful of this concern.”
Ford quickly realized that the date coincided with the birthday of football player and actor Simpson, who led the famous low-speed chase as a passenger in White Bronco in 1994.
The Ford Bronco gained notoriety on June 17, 1994, when Al Cowlings led a slow-moving police pursuit on Interstate 405 with his accused friend O.J. Simpson seated in the back seat. Cowlings eventually surrendered. 95 million Americans saw the occurrence live as it was shown on television all around the world.
Simpson was facing charges in murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
