Chicago: Chicago mayor criticized for launching canned water brand amid lead crisis

CHICAGO: Lori Lightfoot’s unveiling of “Chicagwa,” Chicago’s own brand of canned water, may have caused more controversy than she anticipated.

In commemoration of National Drinking Water Week, Chicago’s mayor introduced the artistically adorned cans of tap water to highlight the city’s water supply, Lake Michigan.

However, the city has been recognised as having more potentially toxic lead pipes conveying that water to households than anyplace else in the US, a fact that worried residents are now bringing to the attention of the public.
