Chewy Sends Flowers to Customers Who Have Lost Their Pets

Losing a pet is very difficult. It’s crucial that you give yourself time to grieve, recover, and reflect on the good times you spent with your four-legged buddy because they were an integral part of the family and gave their unconditional love with you throughout their entire lives. Chewy.com is supporting customers who are grieving the loss of a cherished pet, which is one of the most honourable things a business can do.

The pet store has been sending its clients condolence flowers because it recognises the sadness that comes with a loss. One Twitter user revealed earlier this month that she received a lot after getting in touch with Chewy.com to return an unopened bag of dog food.

“I contacted @Chewy last week to see if I could return an unopened bag of my dog’s food after he died. They 1) gave me a full refund, 2) told me to donate the food to the shelter, and 3) had flowers delivered today with the gift note signed by the person I talked to,” she Tweeted.

At the time this story was being written, the post had over 736,000 likes and 43,200 retweets, showing how quickly it was gaining traction. In response to the kind gesture, several Twitter users shared similar experiences.

“Chewy is a phenomenal company, when my dog passed away this last February they sent us a hand painted portrait of her that has sat on her ashes ever since. Much love!” one person replied.

Not just Twitter users are appreciating the retailer’s kindness. There are numerous Reddit threads from appreciative pet owners who received the same excellent customer care at a challenging time.

When a customer asked Chewy.com whether they could return an unopened bag of cat food, a customer service agent sent them a sympathetic email outlining the procedure and providing a full refund. After a few days, a bouquet of flowers showed up.

“…As if that wasn’t enough, today my doorbell rings and it’s a delivery guy with a really nice vase of flowers and a sympathy card from a local florist, sent from the same Chewy rep that processed our refund,” the Reddit user wrote. “The whole response has been kind of unbelievable.”

Chewy.com is a pet supply retailer that sells pet food, accessories, healthcare products, and other products. In addition to its compassionate and considerate response to pet loss, the business takes pride in its Chewy Gives Back initiative, which donates more than 97 million pet goods to shelters to make sure rescue animals receive the proper care.
