Bengaluru based Ather Energy has witnessed a massive growth in sales in Jan 2022. Total sales of the company in Jan 2022 stood at 2,825 models. This makes a good 366 percent YoY growth. According to Ather, electric scooters demand is on rise in the country. So its electric scooters too has been witnessing a strong demand. This is the key factor which is driving the sales of Ather. Company is also planning to increase its production but chip shortage continues to be a roadblock.
Ather Energy 1 Million Sales
In a major shift towards the production, Ather is targeting an annual sales of 1 million models. As of now Ather production capacity stood at 400,000 models a year. Over the next 3 years the company will increase its output to 1 million models per year. With production, Ather looks to expand its presence to 600 stores and install 5,000 chargers by the end of 2022. At present Ather makes 5,000 electric scooters a month and company is expecting it to reach 20,000 in 2022.
In Hosur Ather has its manufacturing facility. Company is planning to setup a second factory in the same city. The new facility will focus on the increased production target by Ather. The electric scooters by the company are 90 percent locally assembled. At present the company sells Ather 450X and 450 Plus scooters. Two-wheeler giant Hero MotoCorp holds 34.8 percent stake in Ather Energy.
The Ather 450X electric scooter gets a 2.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It delivers a maximum 8 BHP power and 26 Nm torque. In eco mode the scooter offers a range of 85 km. Ather offers 4 riding modes on the Ather 450X electric scooter. The scooter also gets full LED lighting and a 7-inch touchscreen. The touchscreen on the Ather 450X supports bluetooth, navigation and a 4G LTE SIM. The Ather 450 scooter price starts at Rs 1.18 lakh and goes upto Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom).
