All You Need To Know About Newmont CEO Tom Palmer

Tom Palmer became President and Chief Executive Officer and joined the Board of Directors of Newmont Corporation on October 1, 2019.

Career

Tom Palmer held the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer from November 2018 to June 2019, and President from June 2019.

Prior to this, he was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President from May 2016. After serving as Senior Vice President for Indonesia since March 2014, Mr. Palmer was named Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, in February 2015.

He served as Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Pilbara Mines Chief Operating Officer before joining Newmont. Mr. Palmer served in a variety of capacities for Rio Tinto over the course of a 20-year career, including general manager of technology for the company’s bauxite and alumina business, general manager of operations at the Hail Creek coal mine, and general manager of asset management at the South African Palabora Mining Company.

Education

Tom Palmer graduated from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, with a Master of Engineering Science degree and a Bachelor of Engineering.
