Tata Motors is planning to give Nexon EV a much needed update. In 2022, Nexon EV will get bigger 40kWh battery pack to boost its range. The current battery pack size on Nexon EV is of 30.2kWh. The Nexon EV with longer range and bigger battery pack will sell alongside the current Nexon EV model.

The Current Nexon EV has the smallest battery pack and so the lowest range among its rivals. With 30.2kWh battery, Nexon EV offers 180-200km of range in real-life. The claimed range of Nexon EV is 312km. Bigger battery will boost its range to over 400km. So 300-320km of range can be expected in real-life.

The bigger battery pack will bring additional expected weight of 100kg. To accommodate the larger battery pack, 2022 Nexon EV will get changes in the floor. Boot space too may decrease in exchange of longer range. Except the battery pack no other major changes are expected in 2022 Nexon EV.

The larger battery pack will surely push the price up by estimated Rs 3 lakh-4 lakh. So the expected price of 2022 Nexon EV is Rs 17 lakh-18 lakh. As Nexon EV is the best selling electric passenger vehicle, 2022 update will make it even more dominant in its segment. The Nexon EV has a market share of around 60 percent in electric passenger vehicle market.

With updated battery pack, 2022 Tata Nexon EV Will be a worthy rival of Hyundai Kona & MG ZS EV. The sales of electric vehicles are increasing day by day. Just like petrol and diesel cars, there’s also a growing trend of outstation trips in electric vehicles. Here range is an important point. This made Tata Motors to introduce longer range in 2022 Nexon EV.

The company has recently registered a seperate subsidiary Tata Motors Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEML) for its EV business.
