Jeep Compass based new Meridian 7-seater SUV is getting closer to launch. The launch of the SUV is expected in mid-2022. Once again, the spy shots of the Meridian SUV has surfaced. This time spy shots were very close and reveals important design details about the SUV. The LED lights can be clearly seen here alongside the new alloy wheels. The Jeep Meridian was unveiled in August 2021 for Brazilian market. Indian spec model will be same but get minor visual changes. In India, Jeep Meridian may get Commander name. It is essentially a Jeep Compass with three row and longer wheelbase.

The Jeep Compass gets 2.0-Litre diesel and 1.4-Litre turbo-petrol engine. These same engines may power Jeep Meridian as well. The Tata Safari gets same engine from its 5-seater sibling Harrier. As Jeep Meridian and Tata Safari lies in the same segment, the engines could be shared in Jeep Meridian as well. With engine, Jeep Meridian may also get 9-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 drive system from the Compass. Jeep also offers 7-speed DCT and 6-speed manual / automatic transmission on Compass which could be shared as well.

Just like the engines and transmission, the interiors of Jeep Meridian will also get similar features to Compass. So we can expect 10.25-inch cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, FCA’s UConnect 5, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay etc.

The price of Jeep Meridian SUV will be on expensive side. This new 7-seater SUV can cost Rs 22 Lakh-Rs 25 Lakh (ex-showroom). After launch, The Jeep Meridian SUV will rival Tata Safari, Toyota Fortuner and New Skoda Kodiaq.
